Top Destination in Bali

Bali, has been known as  'The Island of a Thousand Gods'. Some see the island as perhaps the last frontier, waiting to be discovered for its beauty, culture and ritualistic way of life. Bali has often been called 'The Land of the Many Temples'. Temples – from small shrines in the rice fields to magnificent complexes belonging to large towns – are certainly the single most important institutions on the island, and can be seen everywhere. By the sea, on desolate promontories, in caves, on the highest mountain, even entangled in the roots of Banyan trees, large and small temples appear as a natural complement to the island's geography.

Bali is the most popular island holiday destination in the Indonesian archipelago, with good reason. Here you’ll experience a fine combination of sandy beaches and rolling surf, an ancient culture known for its warm hospitality, and exotic temples and palaces set against stunning natural backdrops. Travel inland and towering volcanoes and pristine jungles await with plenty to see and do, although most can’t stay away from the beach for long. Meal times on Bali offer endless choice of local or far-flung cuisine and, after sunset, famous hotspots come to life offering exciting clubbing scenes and packed dancefloors.

Choose from amazing beach resorts to unparalleled luxury resorts in any of Bali’s famous resorts such as Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur or Nusa Dua, where great hotels and villas are right on the beach. Explore the scenic central highlands of Ubud with its flowing rice fields, valleys and forested rivers – it’s not only a place for cultural day trippers, but also for adventure seekers and shopaholics. Plus, the many more off-the-beaten-track spots around this magical island.

Bali received the Best Island award from Travel and Leisure in 2010. The island of Bali won because of its attractive surroundings (both mountain and coastal areas), diverse tourist attractions, excellent international and local restaurants, and the friendliness of the local people. According to BBC Travel released in 2011, Bali is one of the World's Best Islands, ranking second after Santorini, Greece.

Kuta :

Kuta Beach is located on the western side of the island's narrow isthmus and is considered Bali's most famous beach resort destination. Kuta Beach is also minutes away from the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Tuban. The nearby resorts of Tuban, Legian and Seminyak are all within close walking distance. Once a simple, rustic and quiet fishing village, Kuta Beach has witnessed a transformation over the past years due to the rise of various accommodations, dining, and shopping options. The rapid growth owes much to visitors, beachcombers and art lovers from nearby Australia. Expatriates also helped pioneer surfing in Kuta, as well.

Legian :

A popular stay for guests visiting Bali, Legian offers a mixture of serene, quiet and relaxing beach life and an exciting nightlife. Right off the beach and the main hotel drag there is easy access to a range of nightclubs and markets, and the area is secluded enough to secure rest at nights.

Ubud :

Ubud is located in the cool mountains, just one hour's drive north of the airport and the resorts of southern Bali, this traditional country town is a home of one of Bali's royal families. Ubud is considered in many ways Bali's cultural heart and also a flourishing crafts centre. Around Ubud the surrounding villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan and Batuan specialise in crafts and woodcarving which are sold all over the island. There are hundreds of shops selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, textiles, paintings and jewellery as well as some of the best art museums in the country, dozens of art studios, an excellent local craft market and galleries. Inspired by vibrant green rice paddies, mountains and colorful Balinese festivals, the elite artistic colony that began in the 1930's with eminent European painters, writers and musicians have grown into a thriving arts centre, drawing increasing numbers of visitors.

Sanur :

Sanur is one of the best place for people and families do visit and like it the most wonderful place in the world. The tropical atmosphere sweep entire of Sanur Beach that makes it as an ideal place for relaxation. It is also blessed by the breathtaking view of sunrise that one is the fascination for tourist to visit and stay in this place. Sanur Beach, Bali's earliest beach resort, features a relaxed coastal ambiance. Located on the eastern side of the island's isthmus, it is the opposite of Kuta, both in characteristics and nuance. The former fishing village maintains most of its charm and continues to attract repeat visitors, mostly from Europe. Among Bali’s first hotels and beachfront retreats, together with an eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and bars and an assortment of innovative and modern entertainment venues share the Sanur Beach coastline. Known for its laidback atmosphere, Sanur Beach maintains its wealth in arts and culture, making it an ideal destination to enjoy the best of both eras, classic and contemporary.

Nusa Dua :

The place name of Nusa Dua is derived from the two small islands to the east. Though it’s the most developed area in Bali, it still houses many temples, a museum, and lots of other attractions. The enclave is an idyllic place for honeymooners and for those who bring the entire family. Nusa Dua, was designed to be an ‘all-inclusive’ type of tourist destination. The pristine Bali Tourism Development Centre’s (BTDC’s) complex of world-class hotels, an up-market shopping complex with well-maintained facilities, a luxurious 18-hole golf course, white-golden sandy beaches, the main convention centre on the island and much more.

Jimbaran :

Jimbaran is just south of the airport and Kuta. This was formerly a real backwater of south Bali, just a tiny fishing village with a daily market. Jimbaran beach and the famous Jimbaran Bay are located on Bali's southwestern coast of the narrow isthmus connecting the Bali mainland and the Bukit Peninsula. The beach and the bay of Jimbaran offer small secluded areas, where tranquility and peace are the perfect antidote to a stressful world. Jimbaran is now home to several world class 5 star beach resorts, plus a few more moderate mid-market hotels. However, little in the way of budget accommodation and there are also many high-end villas in this area, particularly on the ridges of high ground above Jimbaran Bay.

Uluwatu is a large limestone peninsula which, bar a sliver of land just south of the airport, would be a separate island. It is rugged and dry, and pre-tourist development this was a real backwater of Bali. The Bukit (as it is commonly referred to) includes the famous cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu, a number of Bali's very best beaches including Balangan, and the top surfing spots on the island. As is so often the case, it was intrepid surfers who really opened up the eyes of the world to this part of the island. The two main towns with strong local communities on the Bukit are Pecatu and Ungasan. Exploring the Bukit peninsula lends itself very well to rent a motorbike. A number of the nicer beaches are reached via small roads or dirt tracks and a motorbike is the best method. Motorbike or scooter give you a solution for jammed traffic.
